Karen Davila heads to Tagaytay to experience the delightful Thai cuisine crafted by Rachel Lobangco, a former ’80s sexy star who has transformed into a proud chef and owner of Khun Lek Thai restaurant. Catch their story on “My Puhunan” this Saturday (Jun 15).
Rachel’s journey into Thai cuisine began during a two-year stay in Bangkok due to lockdowns, where she and her mother found themselves. This circumstance prompted Rachel to master the art of Thai cooking, eventually leading her to establish her own Thai fine dining establishment within EP Farm in Tagaytay, owned by her mother, Elvie Pineda.
“I learned because I had no choice but to cook. At first, I was researching on YouTube, TikTok, but I realized I must take this seriously. I am the one who really operates in the kitchen,” Rachel shared.
In addition to Rachel’s story, “My Puhunan” also features Jobet’s inspiring journey from a former OFW to a successful bibingka entrepreneur. Starting with a capital of P50,000 and inspired by his Nanay Mely, Jobet’s Ka Mely’s Bibingka has now flourished with numerous resellers and distributors after a decade of hard work.
