JURIS SET TO DROP NEW RENDITION OF BREAK-UP SONG “IF YOU HAD ASKED ME TO”

Juris brings forth a fresher take on the heart-rending song “If You Had Asked Me To,” which will be released under ABS-CBN Music International (AMI) this Friday (April 17).

The track, penned by singer-songwriter Marion Aunor is best suited for those who are still hung up on their former partners and the ‘what ifs’ of a failed relationship.

“It’s a song about reminiscing that part of a relationship when you know it’s about to end. Then eventually you end up letting go of each other, but looking back, you would have stayed if the other person just fought for it more,” Marion explained.

Juris, on the other hand, says she likes how the song tackles such a sad yet real possibility. “It’s possible for anyone to be in a situation in which a relationship is strangely not where it used to be. Either they are no longer on the same path, or the plans of the other person no longer include you.”

Originally a part of her “Here’s My Heart” album released last year, Juris’ improved rendition of “If You Had Asked Me To” under AMI aims to introduce the exceptional artistry of Filipinos to global audiences, on top of bringing more soul to the already-emotional record.

The acoustic pop singer isn’t new to international ventures with her music, having been the first Filipino artist to release an EP in South Korea with “If You And Me” in 2011, which featured six tracks including two Korean songs, “If” by Taeyeon from KPop girl group Girls Generation and Baek Ji Young’s “Do Not Forget,” both of which were translated to English. She was also the sole Filipina who was invited to perform at the country’s “Green Plugged Seoul” music festival during the same year.

Since she signed under Star Music in 2009, Juris has also made notable hits, including the exceptionally-emotive ballad “’Di Lang Ikaw” released in 2010 from her launching solo album “Now Playing.”

She has also given life to the theme songs of successful Kapamilya teleseryes starring the love teams of KathNiel and LizQuen, “Got To Believe” and “Forevermore,” respectively.

Don’t let your love fall apart and listen to Juris’ “If You Had Asked Me To,” dropping this Friday (April 17) on various digital streaming platforms. For updates, like Star Music on Facebook at www.facebook.com/starmusicph, and follow it on Twitter and Instagram (@StarMusicPH).
