Over 500 Assistance Desks rolling out nationwide, GlobeOne app now open for prepaid SIM registration
Globe, the leading mobile provider in the Philippines, has launched the country’s first-ever National SIM Registration Week (NSRW). Starting on February 20, 2023, the company has set up over 500 assistance desks across the country to help customers register their SIM cards. The initiative aims to reach out to senior citizens, PWDs, pregnant women, basic phone users, and those with no internet access to comply with the SIM Registration Act before the April 26, 2023 deadline.
The launch was spearheaded by Globe Consumer Mobile Business Head Darius Delgado and Channel Management Group Head Cleo Santos, together with National Telecommunications Commissioner Ella Blanca Lopez, Department of Information and Communications Technology Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo, and Makati Mayor Abigail Binay at a Globe facility in Makati City.
The NSRW is a historic moment for Globe, as it aims to reduce spam and scam text messages, which is the intent of the SIM Registration Act. Customers who register their SIM cards during the National SIM Registration Week or through online channels are eligible to participate in a Globe raffle and win tickets to the Wanderland and Arctic Monkeys concerts in March. The promo is open until February 28, 2023.
To help customers register, Globe has deployed assisted registration hubs across 90 remote areas, partnered with Puregold for assisted registration in 30 branches, and provided assisted registration during the Sinulog festival in Cebu and the Dinagyang festival in Iloilo. Globe has also partnered with the Makati City local government unit to offer Makatizens assisted registration services at the Makati City Hall open parking area from February 20 to 24, 2023.
Aside from the registration booths, Globe Prepaid and TM customers can register via the GlobeOne app or by visiting new.globe.com.ph/simreg. Meanwhile, completing SIM registration for Globe Postpaid and Platinum customers only takes one step. As soon as the customer receives the call to register SMS, they only need to text SIMREG to 8080 to confirm that details submitted to Globe during the postpaid plan application are updated.
The SIM Registration Act requires the registration of all SIM cards to combat criminal activities such as smishing and other mobile phone and online scams that use unregistered SIMs. Globe urges all Filipino mobile users to support the campaign to beat spam and scam text messages and cybercrime by registering their SIMs before the deadline.
