Canadian pop singer and songwriter JESSIA has announced her new EP, Okay With Every Part, set for release on July 19. Alongside this announcement, she has unveiled her latest single, “Different People.” Listen to it here: https://jessia.lnk.to/differentpeople.
This year marks a significant milestone for JESSIA as she ventures into independent music following her departure from her label. Taking charge of her career, she introduces Okay With Every Part, her first independent project. The 6-track EP features popular songs like “The Woman You Are,” “Care About Me,” and “He’s a 10,” along with three brand-new tracks.
JESSIA reflects on her independent project: “Losing a label and a relationship within three months was a whirlwind of emotions. I experienced shame, rejection, and frustration, but also freedom, adventure, and resilience. Although challenging, I had to accept and navigate these new hurdles. Each song in this EP represents a significant moment in my journey toward finding peace and self-confidence. This project embodies my acceptance of both the good and the bad parts of life, allowing me to say, I’m okay with every part.”
Today’s release, “Different People,” is a poignant breakup anthem. JESSIA describes it as capturing the emotional turbulence of the no-contact phase of a breakup, complete with the intrusive thoughts that often accompany it. “This song is for anyone fighting the urge to reach out to an ex. Instead of making that call, turn up this song and take a midnight drive,” she suggests.
