Jacob Clemente Makes His Comeback with New Single “Muntik Na” Under Off The Record
Jacob Clemente is back on the music scene! After his OPM hit “Naghihintay” captivated fans nationwide, he returns with a fresh track titled “Muntik Na,” released under Off The Record, led by Ricky Ilacad. Dropped on October 18, 2024, this new single marks Jacob’s highly anticipated return to OPM and is now available on all major streaming platforms.
The Story Behind “Muntik Na”
Inspired by a near-biking accident, Jacob Clemente weaves an emotionally charged narrative in “Muntik Na.” The term “muntik na” (which means “almost” in English) struck a chord with him after he narrowly escaped a crash. This experience inspired him to create a song for those who, like him, came close to something meaningful but missed out—especially in matters of the heart.
“The song is for the ‘what could have been’ moments—the star-crossed lovers who were just not meant to be,” Jacob shares.
A Nostalgic Soundscape
“Muntik Na” explores the realms of synthwave and synth-ballad, drawing influences from musical legends such as Michael Jackson, Prince, The Beatles, and Depeche Mode. This blend of nostalgia and modern soundscapes enhances the track’s emotional depth, merging beauty with a sense of longing.
“I want listeners to reflect on their own ‘what if’ relationships—the ones that almost blossomed,” Jacob expresses.
A Stunning Visual Accompaniment
The single is accompanied by a visually stunning music video filmed in the iconic Joshua Tree National Park. The park’s expansive, surreal landscape reflects the theme of “almosts” in life—both beautiful and hauntingly empty, much like the memories of relationships that never fully flourished. The Joshua Tree itself, a unique feature of the desert, serves as a metaphor for these memories, existing solely in our minds. The music video is set to premiere this Friday at 6 PM Philippine time.
What’s Next for Jacob Clemente?
Looking ahead, Jacob hints, “We’ll have to wait and see.” Fans can look forward to more new music, with the possibility of an EP on the horizon. For now, he is eager for listeners to embark on the nostalgic and emotional journey that “Muntik Na” offers.
