The hosts of “It’s Showtime” recently shared their perspectives on the much-anticipated Magpasikat performances, emphasizing that there is no surefire formula for winning the annual competition. Instead, they believe that bringing joy to the “madlang people” is what truly matters.
Vice Ganda, the show’s Phenomenal Unkabogable star, highlighted that while having a great concept is important, luck plays a significant role in clinching victory.
“There really isn’t a formula. Beyond skill, luck also plays a part. Sometimes, even if your team is exceptional and well-prepared, bad luck can still strike,” Vice shared. She recalled last year’s performance mishap that may have cost their group the win. “Last year, something unfortunate happened during our production that we couldn’t explain, but we had no choice but to accept our bad luck,” she added.
Jhong, who is just one win away from achieving a grand slam in Magpasikat, stressed that conveying a meaningful message to the audience is paramount.
“There’s no formula. For me, it’s more about whether the message of the performance resonates with the audience. Winning is just a bonus, but for all of us, the real achievement is if the madlang people understand the message. We’re happy as long as that’s achieved, even if we don’t win,” he said.
Ogie Alcasid noted that personal fulfillment comes from giving his best effort, regardless of the competition’s outcome.
“It’s not about winning. What matters is that you give your best and ensure your performance isn’t half-hearted. As long as it’s well thought out and you pour all your effort into creating a Magpasikat performance worthy of the audience’s time, that’s what counts,” Ogie expressed.
The hosts also reflected on how Magpasikat has taught them to accept defeat gracefully despite their competitive nature. They acknowledged learning to celebrate each other’s successes.
With Magpasikat 2024 just around the corner, the hosts offered a glimpse of their upcoming acts, using single words to describe them. Vhong teased with “more amazing,” Kim chose “fearless,” Karylle hinted with “extracted,” Ryan echoed “amazing,” Jugs called it “cute,” Darren described it as “unique,” Ion said “spectacular,” Jackie used “fierce,” Cianne opted for “wow,” and Lassy concluded with “stunning.”
This year’s Magpasikat will be the first to air on GMA. The hosts expressed their gratitude to the network, its executives, and the “madlang Kapuso” for supporting “It’s Showtime” as it marks its 15th anniversary.
“We’re very happy and honored to be here at GMA. We feel the support and love from the network every day. We see how the Kapuso audience is delighted to join us on this journey in our 15th year and beyond,” said Amy Perez.
