Khimo Gumatay, the grand winner of “Idol Philippines” season 2, has recently released his first recording titled “Nasunog,” which serves as a preview to his upcoming full-length album.
“Nasunog” revolves around the theme of loving someone repeatedly, even after losing oneself in the process. The song was co-written by Khimo, ABS-CBN Music’s creative director Jonathan Manalo, who also produced the song, and Star Pop label head Rox Santos.
This soulful R&B single will be featured on Khimo’s highly anticipated album, which he has been diligently working on since January of this year. The album will showcase his original compositions.
Khimo, a talented singer-performer and former tattoo artist, embarked on his musical journey at the age of 7 when he received his first guitar and instantly fell in love with it. His musical style encompasses funk, neo soul, R&B, and blues.
During his junior high school years, his passion for poetry writing led him to delve into songwriting. He shared, “I love writing poetry. So, I thought, why not translate it into song composition? That’s what motivated me.”
Reflecting on how “Idol PH” transformed his life, Khimo expressed deep gratitude. He said, “It has made a tremendous change because I am now doing something that I truly love, which is performing in front of a live audience and creating music.”
Khimo’s debut offering, “Nasunog,” is now available on various digital streaming platforms. For more updates, follow Star Music on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
