Hong Kong Sparks Romance for KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad

Estrada’s “Be With U“ music video livens up the screens with a charming romance set against the backdrop of Asia’s World City

In his latest single, “Be with U”, KD Estrada paints a picture of a serendipitous meeting between two unsuspecting individuals, leading them on a sweet journey through the vibrant streets of Hong Kong. The song captures the longing to spend every moment with that special someone, bringing to life the pure kilig feeling that resonates with listeners.

In the music video, KD stars alongside his long-time partner and fellow artist, Alexa Ilacad. Known as the beloved couple “KDLex,” they’ve had their fair share of Hong Kong adventures, including starring in the microfilm “Toss Coin” directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana. The short film, about two Filipinos meeting and falling in love in Hong Kong, mirrors the storyline of “Be with U”, making the video even more personal and meaningful. What makes this project even more special is the support from KDLex fans, who contributed their own suggestions for hidden gems to visit in Hong Kong, helping bring the music video to life.

Exploring Hong Kong: A Couple’s Paradise

The video showcases KD and Alexa as they explore the many faces of Hong Kong, with the city becoming the perfect backdrop for their love story. Beyond the usual tourist attractions, Hong Kong offers unique experiences for couples, from spontaneous weekend getaways to scenic days spent touring the outlying islands. “Be with U” serves as the perfect inspiration for planning a memorable trip to Hong Kong with your significant other.

The View with U

The video kicks off with a romantic meeting at the Peak Galleria Observation Deck, perched high above Hong Kong. This spacious deck, located near the Peak Galleria mall, offers a stunning panoramic view from Victoria Peak. Just like KDLex, visitors can breathe in the fresh mountain air after a shopping trip, taking in the breathtaking sights of Hong Kong together.

The Tranquil Charm of Cheung Chau

In the music video for “Be with U”, KD and Alexa find themselves reconnecting on the serene island of Cheung Chau, a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. With its picturesque waterfront, gently swaying fishing boats, and seafood restaurants, Cheung Chau offers a perfect escape. Just a short ferry ride away from the city, the standard ferry takes around an hour to reach the island, while the fast ferry cuts the journey down to 35–40 minutes. Daily ferry services to Cheung Chau are available from Central Pier No. 5.

The island is car-free, with bike riding as the preferred mode of transportation, which helps maintain its peaceful ambiance. Alexa, who was captivated by this laid-back way of getting around, shared, “I don’t get to ride bikes often, so I was a bit shaky, but KD was there to help.” She went on to express her love for Cheung Chau, saying, “It’s the perfect place to take it slow on the bike—so scenic, and there are no cars to worry about.” Laughing, she added, “I hope to be back soon just to relax and soak in the atmosphere.”

Cheung Chau also offers a variety of activities, from hiking trails to trendy cafes, all set in a culturally rich community. The island is also home to the famous annual Cheung Chau Bun Festival, further adding to its charm as a unique and vibrant destination.

While exploring Cheung Chau, KD and Alexa stopped by Kwok Kam Kee, the oldest lucky bun bakery on the island, to share a sweet treat together. Known for making around 30,000 buns annually, the bakery is famous for its role in the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, where these delicious buns are sold and given away. Each bun is stamped with the Chinese characters “Ping On,” which means “safety,” and the bold red print makes each bun easily recognizable. The filling, bursting with rich flavor, is just as unforgettable.

Alexa was delighted by the unique sweetness of the buns, saying, “The sweetness is such a nice surprise and different from other steamed buns I’ve had.” KD agreed, adding, “It’s the texture that really makes it stand out. It’s so filling, nakakabusog siya, right?” Their shared experience of this local delicacy was a highlight of their time on the island.

Exploring Cheung Chau’s Culinary Delights with KD and Alexa

Located at G/F, 46 Pak She Street, Cheung Chau, Kwok Kam Kee is where KD and Alexa shared their first sweet bite together, enjoying the famous lucky buns. Their food adventure continued as they made their way to the MTR mosaic wall-inspired Cheung Chau Corner at G/F, 78 San Hing Street, Cheung Chau, where they delighted in a refreshing yogurt drink and savored giant curry fishballs at the Welcome Food Court, located at G/F, 150 San Hing Back Street.

For a more relaxed atmosphere, they stopped by Space, a charming cafe at 7 Tai Hing Tai Road, Cheung Chau. Known for its diverse menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it offers delicious meals at affordable prices.

If you’re a fan of traditional desserts, Wan Sing Dessert at G/F, 5 San Hing Street, Cheung Chau is the place to go. KD and Alexa couldn’t resist trying the island’s favorite treat, the famous mango mochi.

“As Filipinos, we had to try the mango mochi,” KD shares. “It’s just like the ones we have back home, and it was so refreshing. Super sarap!” Their Cheung Chau food trip is a perfect guide for those looking to experience the island’s best culinary offerings.

For couples looking to add a personal touch to their love story, the Love Lock Wall is the perfect destination. This charming maze of chain-link walls is adorned with locks and heart-shaped wooden plaques, each engraved with heartfelt messages from friends and couples commemorating their time on the island. KD and Alexa embraced this tradition, leaving a special easter egg for their fans: a hand-painted portrait of the couple on a heart-shaped plaque, marking their visit. The artwork was created at BnB The Creative Workshop, a spot where KD and Alexa enjoyed getting creative. The workshop also offers visitors a chance to craft their own mementos and pick up unique souvenirs and trinkets to hang on the Love Lock Wall.

The Love Lock Wall is located at 156 Sun Hing Back Street, Cheung Chau, making it a must-visit stop for couples exploring the island.
