The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a significant increase in the number of weddings, and the struggle of one couple to reschedule their wedding three times has been made into a major feature film titled “The Wedding Hustler.” Chris and Hillary Soriano’s actual wedding is featured in this romantic comedy to demonstrate the chaos that comes with fighting for love in a post-pandemic world.
The movie will be released in select SM Cinemas worldwide this weekend. Chris and Hillary both star in the film to showcase the reality of how difficult it was to plan a wedding during a pandemic. The film is distributed by 1091 Pictures (a Sony company) and Prine, and is written, directed, and produced by Chris and Hillary.
Kane Lim, a star from Netflix’s “Bling Empire,” executive produced and acted in the film alongside Chris and Hillary. Chris said, “They say planning a wedding is one of the most stressful things in someone’s life, and It’s so hard to plan when every venue and caterer is taken, and so I wanted to show that if I could put on a surprise wedding in this pandemic and figure out all the stressful planning on my own, maybe it will inspire other couples to deal with the stress of planning a wedding too.” The film was shot in various locations in San Diego and is now being shown internationally.
“The Wedding Hustler” tells the story of a couple who are unable to proceed with their wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The groom decides to create a surprise wedding for his fiancée with the assistance of the Wedding Hustler, played by Christine Chang, an actual wedding planner. The film also stars Heart Evangelista, an international Filipina actress, as Kane Lim’s “bestie” in the film.
