Happy Walk 2025: 8,000 Gather to Promote Abilities and Inclusion

In a remarkable show of unity and advocacy, Happy Walk 2025 brought together thousands of individuals with Down Syndrome, their families, and supporters nationwide on March 30, 2025. Organized by SM Cares in partnership with the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc. (DSAPI), the event was held at SMX Manila (SM Mall of Asia Complex), alongside simultaneous celebrations at SM City Cebu and SM City Bacolod. Meanwhile, SM CDO Downtown Premier hosted its event earlier on March 23, while SM Center Ormoc championed the cause through the All for Down Night Run on March 27.

With the theme “321 & Beyond,” Happy Walk 2025 transcended mere awareness, inspiring action, community engagement, and a stronger commitment to inclusivity for individuals with Down Syndrome.

A Step Towards a More Inclusive Future

Happy Walk is a reminder that inclusion is a shared responsibility. Every step we take today brings us closer to a future where individuals with Down Syndrome are valued, empowered, and given opportunities to thrive,” shared Nill Patrick Arroyo, DSAPI Board Member and Head of Happy Walk 2025.

The event provided a meaningful space for families and advocates to connect, exchange experiences, and celebrate the strides made in fostering inclusivity across the country.

A Record-Breaking Gathering of Support

With over 8,000 participants—the largest turnout in Happy Walk’s history—the nationwide event showcased the growing support and commitment of parents, educators, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and corporate partners in advocating for individuals with Down Syndrome.

SM Cares is honored to continue its long-standing partnership with DSAPI for Happy Walk. Year after year, this event reaffirms our dedication to making our malls—and our communities—more inclusive and welcoming for all,” said Hanna Carinna Sy, SM Supermalls Assistant Vice President for Marketing.

For years, Happy Walk has played a pivotal role in breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and creating a society that embraces individuals with Down Syndrome. It has grown into a national tradition that uplifts communities, empowers families, and fosters a culture of acceptance and support.

Beyond Happy Walk: A Lifelong Commitment to Inclusion

While Happy Walk remains a highly anticipated annual event, its mission extends far beyond a single day. SM Cares, DSAPI, and their partners remain committed to driving change through ongoing programs, support initiatives, and community-building efforts that ensure individuals with Down Syndrome are provided safe, welcoming, and empowering spaces every day.

Through continuous advocacy, Happy Walk is not just a movement—it’s a promise to create a future where inclusion is the norm, and every individual is celebrated for who they are.
