Dear SV can now be seen on GMA!
New episodes of this awesome public service program that highlight the amazing tales of regular Filipinos will premiere on November 18. These are the people who never give up and persevere in the face of daily hardships and obstacles.
The program, which is hosted by Representative Sam “SV” Verzosa of the Tutok to Win Party-List, is expected to serve as a ray of hope and light for communities across the nation. How? by offering support in the form of financial aid, employment opportunities, scholarships, and sustainable means of subsistence. If it sounds familiar, that’s because CNN Philippines ran the show’s original premiere in February.
“I’m so grateful to my first home network for giving me the opportunity to venture into TV hosting,” shares Sam.
Because he has been exposed to real stories from real people, SV, as he is affectionately known, takes great pride in the public service program. He saw firsthand some of the harsh realities of life, which he believes are for show. One of his most memorable interactions is with Lola Fedeng, an 86-year-old pedicab driver who barely makes ends meet for her family.“To me, that was really an eye-opener. Imagine, Lola Fedeng still works at her old age. She actually represents the majority of Filipinos who belong to the poverty line, but are still working hard to make both ends meet. Her story is really inspiring. That’s what we want to share – to inspire more.”
In “Dear SV,” Sam records a number of “firsts” in his life. Imagine doing tasks like cleaning fish in a wet market, riding a pedicab, and other things. For him, it’s a journey of discovering important life lessons, not just a show.“My close encounters with Lola Fedeng, Tatay Rolando, Ronnie, and others have humbled me. Now, I am grateful and content with what I have,” beams Sam.
And in case you’re wondering, Sam is the brains behind the Batang Sampaloc Scholarship Foundation Inc., the CEO and Co-Founder of Frontrow International, the President of Maserati Philippines, the Director for Charity of Miss Universe Philippines, and the co-founder of Frontrow Cares. He gladly continues his late father’s legacy by lending a hand to the poor and giving liberally of his blessings. He can’t help but think of his father’s advice: never forget to give back.“I’m more excited now with our new home network,” Sam quips. “This will give us more opportunities to share more inspiring stories to many Filipinos through the network’s wider reach,”
‘Dear SV’ highlights not only individuals but also the communities that hurdle all the hardships to improve and uplift their conditions in life.
“My advocacy is to help the helpless who work hard to improve their standard of living. And that’s exactly what ‘Dear SV’ stands for,” concludes Sam.
Watch the inspirational stories unfold on GMA’s “Dear SV” every Saturday at 11:30 PM.
