The recent “Student and Young Practitioner Month” organized by the Global Alliance placed artificial intelligence’s impact on the future of Public Relations at the forefront. Spanning three days from October 24 to 27, this webinar series engaged diverse panelists from across continents—Asia-Pacific, Middle East South Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin, and North America—eliciting thought-provoking discussions from over 2,000 attendees.
Tailored to enrich the knowledge of students and young practitioners, this series was a pivotal part of the Global Alliance’s ongoing professional development initiatives, aligning seamlessly with their “KNow Movement” campaign.
Among the activities, “Career Day” delved into the influence of technology, particularly AI, spotlighting insights from the CIPR report titled “Humans needed more than ever.” The report underscored that while AI could augment or replace 12% of a PR practitioner’s skills today, this figure is projected to reach 38% within the next five years. However, the survey emphasized that indispensable human traits such as empathy, trust, and humor remain irreplaceable.
Additionally, events like the “Jobs Fair” and “Deep Talk” sessions provided a platform for industry experts to share experiences, enriching collective knowledge within the PR domain. The survey also unveiled trends in gender diversity and age within the PR industry, while highlighting prevailing challenges like mis/disinformation, fake news, AI, and deep fakes.
With the aim to broaden perspectives and foster understanding about the industry’s pivotal role, the Global Alliance looks forward to drawing an even larger audience of students and practitioners next year through live Zoom discussions.
The webinar series culminated in an announcement by Ana Pista, the event’s chairperson and founder of ArdentComm, regarding the upcoming posting of job opportunities and internships on the Global Alliance’s website in November.
