The initiative aims to engage the country in a fight to alleviate food insecurity
Sony Music Entertainment Philippines, in partnership with Justin of SB19, has joined forces with Rise Against Hunger Philippines (RAHP) to provide aid to communities in Manila affected by the recent typhoon and ongoing economic struggles.
This initiative is part of Sony Music Group’s global Season of Giving campaign, where the company and its artists give back to the communities in which they operate. The campaign underscores Sony Music’s commitment to making a positive impact worldwide, while supporting the regions where music is created and appreciated.
On November 7, 2024, Christmas came early for the children of Better World Tondo as Justin, the rising solo artist and member of SB19, visited to spread joy with a day full of games, performances, and nutritious meals. The kids were visibly thrilled as Justin serenaded them with his rendition of Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning,” before delighting them with two more songs—his solo hit surreal and SB19’s Ikako.
Beyond his performances, Justin kept the excitement going with fun, interactive games like Bring Me, and personally served the children hearty menudo rice meals with papaya slices.
Justin expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the campaign, which aims to provide both food aid and a sense of joy through entertainment. “I’ve been involved in several advocacies before, but working with Sony Music Entertainment Philippines and RAHP has truly expanded my understanding of the power of using my platform for positive change,” he shared. “Seeing the children’s faces light up during my performance and personally serving them the food was incredibly fulfilling. This experience will stay with me, and I’m excited to be part of more initiatives like this in the future.”
Leni Renton, Program Lead at Rise Against Hunger Philippines, praised Justin’s warmth and generosity. “Justin connected with the children instantly. They enjoyed his performances and had so much fun playing games with him. This experience, made possible by Sony Music, will be a cherished memory for these kids for years to come.
