Happy World Gin Day (WGD) 2023! Drink responsibly and be merry because Gin Is In!
WGD is celebrated on the second Saturday of June every year in 30 countries. In the Philippines, Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI), the maker of the world’s no. 1 selling gin, celebrates it all month long! The festivities began with a media launch as early as June 8 at The Westin Manila in Ortigas. It was a White Party with an open bar highlighting GSMI’s different lines of gin.
We join gin enthusiasts worldwide in celebrating World Gin Day. As pioneers of this event in our country, we aspire to ignite the spirit of greater appreciation for more Filipinos to know gin’s outstanding qualities, as it is a drink that is Cool, Clear, and Versatile.

New Campaign: Gin is Cool, Clear, and Versatile
Gin’s classic yet COOL vibe stems from flavor of juniper and a variety of botanicals. A rigorous distillation process brings out its CLEAR, pure quality and best flavor. Gin can be enjoyed straight and, because it’s VERSATILE, it can be mixed with other ingredients in a cocktail too. GSMI’s new gin appreciation campaign features three personalities who truly embody the best characteristics of gin: Zanjoe Marudo, Basel Manadil, and Herlene Budol.
GSM Bar Academy
GSMI, in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), created the Ginebra San Miguel Bar Academy. They aim to elevate the quality of the bartending profession by training students to be globally competitive and, in 2022, have produced an outstanding 100% immediate employability for all its graduates.
Three of the academy’s scholar-graduates, Jhyrus Denver A. Domingo, Angela Felarca, and JP Peñaflor, are a testament to the academy’s success. They showcased their mixology skills and competed for an inebriating PHP 30,000. They confidently shook and stirred their concoctions to the beat of the performances happening in the background.
Judges Lennon Aguilar, Boogie Geronimo, Zanjoe, Basel, and Herlene crowned JP the winner by a mudslide. The votes for JP’s drinks were unanimous in Rounds 2 and 3. Host Paolo Abrera was amazed at the skill and creativity evident in the cocktail garnish alone!
The GSM Bar Academy is set to receive the prestigious International CSR Excellence Award in London, UK on June 16 in recognition of the academy’s success in transforming the lives not only of the students but of their families and the community as well.
Celebrate Philippine Gin Month with Ginebra San Miguel
The night was filled with dance, music, and gin, of course. Princess Vire, Guitarist Keith, DJ Patty Tiu, dancers, and a flairtender provided the evening’s entertainment. But this is only the beginning of gin month. There’s a lot more to come this June.
Ginebra San Miguel Inc. will also host mini events at around 50 bars nationwide, including some in Pampanga, Naga, Cebu, and Cagayan De Oro. Exclusive promos, raffle giveaways, and outlet merchandising at these bar activations will provide an opportunity for everyone to immerse themselves in the celebration.
G-MIX Nation Online Series and Home Bar Kit
The second season of the G-MIX Nation Online Series hosted by Luis Manzano was launched as part of the WGD celebration. Online and at select supermarkets, you can buy a Home Bar Kit containing three bottles of Ginebra products, coasters, a cocktail shaker, and a double jigger measure cup that will make it easier for you to mix cocktails at home. You can also purchase a Calm and Go pack of four of their latest product, the G&T Ultralight Spirit Drink, with two of each flavor: Lemon Ginger and Apple Black Tea.
Gin Is In Nationwide and All Year Round
The celebration will continue all year long with various activities at hundreds of on-premise outlets from July to December. Participating outlets will receive exclusive benefits and special Gin Is In stubs to give away to consumers. So keep the party going, drink up, and drink responsibly. And don’t forget, Gin Is in!
