GCash, the leading finance app and largest cashless ecosystem in the Philippines, is expanding possibilities in blockchain technology through a partnership with Axie Infinity, the foremost Web3 title. This collaboration aims to enhance the on-chain gaming community experience by introducing a direct on-ramp and off-ramp portal within GCash’s GCrypto feature.
With this partnership, Filipino Web3 gamers can securely transfer their cryptocurrency from the Axie ecosystem to GCrypto and conveniently convert these in-game currencies into fiat money or Philippine pesos, all within the GCash app. Additionally, GCrypto serves as a conversion portal for other games in Sky Mavis’ Ronin ecosystem, including Pixels.
Moreover, this initiative prioritizes compliance with industry governance practices and implements new measures to enhance user safety and security.
Luis Buenaventura, Head of GCrypto at GCash, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This partnership is a significant step forward in our mission to harness the potential of blockchain technology and democratize it further. Filipinos constitute a significant portion of Axie’s user base, accounting for up to 50% of total users. Similarly, Pixel’s Filipino user base has grown, making the Philippines the largest geography for the game, with over 170,000 daily active users.
Apart from Axie and Pixels, Ronin hosts Katana DEX, a decentralized exchange for trading in-game tokens directly on the blockchain. This exchange is utilized by various games on the network. Recently, Sky Mavis relaunched Axie Infinity Classic and introduced its merch store to attract more users to Axie Infinity and onboard a new generation to Web3.
