GCash Participates in Mobile World Congress Plenary

The Philippines’ number one financial app, GCash, put the spotlight on the Philippine fintech industry at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Gcash Highlighted how fintech innovations are empowering millions of Filipinos.

Martha Sazon, President and CEO of GCash, took GCash to the global stage once more, as she is one of the keynote speakers in a plenary session at the MWC on the topic “New Behavior for a New Reality.” A major feat for GCash and Philippine Fintech, Sazon told the story of the Filipino to a global audience, showing the evolving user experience and how it has expanded its portfolio to provide access to affordable services to more Filipinos across various sectors.

GCash is currently a $2 billion unicorn with a user base of over 76 million. Since it provides essential financial services to more Filipinos, it has expanded outside its primary payments and remittance business. Moreover, GCash’s services have been widened to include credit, savings, insurance, and investment options. It also includes an e-commerce platform with a variety of retail alternatives, including food, wellness, travel, entertainment, and real estate services.
