GCash, the Philippines’ top mobile wallet, has signed the United Nations Women Empowerment Principles Commitment in celebration of International Girls in ICT Day. The commitment will inspire and implement initiatives that provide equal opportunities to future tech leaders regardless of gender, as well as promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. GCash is proud of its workforce’s diversity, with women leaders making up 46% of its workforce, higher than the industry average of 28%.
GCash commemorated International Girls in ICT Day with GTalks, featuring various women leaders in the fintech industry. The event aims to empower women in tech and inspire them to make their mark in the field. The program featured Connected Women co-founder Gina Romero, For the Women Foundation co-founder Michelle Alarcon, GCash chief technology operations officer Pebbles Sy, and GCash chief people officer Robert Gonzales. GCash president and CEO Martha Sazon signed the UN Women Empowerment Principles Commitment, solidifying the company’s dedication to gender equality and inclusivity in the workplace.
GCash upholds three UN Sustainable Development Goals, namely Gender Equality (SDG 5), Reduced Inequality (SDG 10), and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8).
