New job matching platform rewards referrers to connect companies with job seekers
GCash has joined forces with PasaJob to introduce GJobs, a novel job matching platform integrated within the GCash superapp.
This feature officially became available to the public on September 25, 2023, and was jointly developed by the two partners. GJobs, powered by PasaJob, is a unique job matching platform equipped with a patented long-chain referral system, streamlining and expediting the hiring process.
The goal of this solution is to address the challenges faced by both employers and job seekers. According to a 2017 Glassdoor study, many companies struggle with recruiting due to concerns about the quality of candidates, while job seekers often find it challenging to discover positions that align with their training, skills, and expertise. With GJobs and its network of referrers, information can effortlessly flow through social networks.
On the GJobs platform, each job posting includes a visible referral fee. This incentivizes individuals to reach out to family, friends, or colleagues to share job opportunities. When the referred person is hired, the referrer(s) receives the referral fee.
“The launch of GJobs is an extension of our ‘Finance for All’ vision. Not only are we helping Filipinos find their dream jobs, we are also helping people earn by referring their friends or family to these job vacancies. GJobs not only helps job seekers and employers connect, we are making the entire hiring process rewarding even for the referrers,” stated GCash Chief People Officer, Robert Gonzales.
This partnership between GCash, a leading fintech company in the Philippines, and PasaJob, the country’s first long-chain referral-based job platform, is significant as it brings together their expertise to directly benefit GCash’s extensive customer base.
“We are proud to work with GCash to make GJobs powered by PasaJob available on their superapp,” said PasaJob Co-Founder and CEO, Kristen Mariano. “With GJobs now, quite literally in the palm of millions of Filipinos, we know that we can connect job seekers to their dream jobs, build bridges for employers and the best talent in their respective industries, and reward referrers who help employers find the right candidates for them.”
This referral-based approach to finding the best candidates has been proven effective in various studies conducted abroad. Reports indicate that 88 percent of employers prefer recruitment through the referral process. Referred employees are also known to stay longer with the companies that hire them, up to 70 percent longer than other employees. Referrals can significantly shorten the hiring period, reducing it by up to 29 days from the average 42-day period.
“Referring friends or family to a job is a very Filipino trait. It’s something inherent to us. So, what we’re doing with GJobs is taking this insight and creating an intuitive job board that is propelled by referrals. We know that this solution will redefine job hunting and job posting, so we hope that people sign up for this service within the GCash superapp,” added Robert Gonzales.
