GCash, the foremost finance app and largest cashless ecosystem in the Philippines, has unveiled GCash Overseas, extending its services to Filipinos residing in 16 key global markets.
With GCash Overseas, Filipinos in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, Qatar, Kuwait, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Australia can now access and utilize the GCash app, regardless of whether they possess Philippine SIMs or local mobile phone numbers in their respective countries or territories of residence.
Paul Albano, General Manager of GCash International, emphasized, “We understand the financial requirements of over 13 million Filipinos living abroad. By making GCash accessible beyond the Philippines, we are addressing the needs of global Filipinos in these cashless digital economies, furnishing them with a secure, efficient fintech solution for remitting money back home.”
The availability of GCash in these 16 key markets worldwide empowers overseas Filipinos to send money to loved ones anytime, anywhere, pay bills, manage expenditures such as household utilities, tuition, and taxes, and purchase mobile phone load to facilitate communication via chat or video calls.
In addition to facilitating secure money transfers to the Philippines, GCash offers a range of digital financial services including savings, gifting vouchers, and online payments, further enhancing the financial well-being of overseas Filipinos.
To expand its reach among Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), GCash has partnered with Ikon Solutions Asia, Inc., a licensed recruitment agency, ensuring that OFWs have access to essential digital financial services via the app.
Furthermore, GCash has collaborated with global payments platform Alipay+, enabling GCash users to transact with over 3 million Alipay+-enabled merchants in 17 countries and territories worldwide. This includes countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States, offering favorable foreign exchange rates and zero service fees. Additionally, GCash has integrated its service with the national QR codes of Malaysia and South Korea, streamlining scanning-to-pay transactions in these countries.
The company has also teamed up with international payments giant Visa, introducing the GCash Visa card, providing users with an additional cashless payment option globally.
Albano affirmed, “We have democratized access to Finance, a service currently enjoyed by 94 million Filipinos, and our international expansion enables us to serve millions more. We are confident that our innovation and strategic partnerships will enable us to deliver seamless financial services to Filipinos worldwide. This is just the beginning as we expand our international presence.”
