Updates to the industry’s most comprehensive Operational Technology Security Platform include enhanced visibility, segmentation, and secure connectivity

Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT), a global leader in cybersecurity, has announced major upgrades to its Operational Technology (OT) Security Platform to help protect critical infrastructure and industrial operations from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
The latest enhancements include advanced threat detection capabilities, ruggedized devices for challenging environments, expanded 5G connectivity, and improved tools for compliance and automated response—delivering an end-to-end solution for OT security needs.
“Fortinet has spent over two decades shaping OT security,” said Nirav Shah, SVP of Products and Solutions at Fortinet. “As threats escalate, especially in sectors like energy, transportation, and manufacturing, our platform gives organizations the tools they need to defend their infrastructure and meet regulatory demands—through one unified platform.”
Key Enhancements to the Fortinet OT Security Platform
- Deeper Threat Visibility: The FortiGuard OT Security Service now supports over 3,300 OT protocol rules, 750 intrusion prevention rules, and 1,500 virtual patching rules to secure legacy systems from known vulnerabilities.
- Industrial-Grade Hardware: New FortiGate Rugged next-gen firewalls and FortiSwitch Rugged models provide secure segmentation and fine-grained control in tough environments.
- Rugged 5G Connectivity: FortiExtender Rugged 511G and FortiExtender Vehicle 511G deliver fast, secure wireless WAN access with built-in Wi-Fi 6 and eSIM for streamlined carrier setup—ideal for remote sites and fleet operations.
- Enhanced OT SecOps: FortiAnalyzer, FortiDeceptor, and FortiNDR updates enable better threat hunting, compliance reporting, and device visibility, now including support for the Purdue Model and MITRE ATT&CK ICS Matrix.
Fortinet’s single operating system, FortiOS, powers this comprehensive platform, delivering seamless integration with the broader Fortinet Security Fabric—making it easier for organizations to secure both IT and OT systems from one console.
