In celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Korea, the Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) Manila Office launched the Korea Travel Fiesta 2024, a vibrant two-day event held at the Glorietta Activity Center and Palm Drive Activity Center in Makati City. This exciting celebration invited Filipinos to explore and experience the rich tapestry of Korea’s tourism and culture.
At the core of the event were various interactive zones that allowed attendees to immerse themselves in Korean culture. Visitors could explore booths and activities that highlighted what makes Korea unique. The featured areas included the K-Travel Zone, which provided essential travel information for those planning to visit Korea, and the K-Activity Zone, where guests could savor authentic Korean cuisine, try on traditional Hanbok attire, learn about Korean history, and enjoy activities centered around K-pop and K-beauty. A Kids Zone was also available, offering fun, hands-on DIY activities like crafting K-themed keychains and hairclips.
In addition to these thematic zones, exhibitors such as airlines, travel agencies, regional tourism organizations, tour attractions, telecommunication companies, and banks participated, showcasing a wide range of travel options for those planning a trip to Korea.
The event opened with a dynamic performance by KTO’s Kingdom Friends characters—Hojong, Mugo, and Kawoo—setting the festive mood. The weekend also featured appearances and performances from both Filipino and Korean artists. Running Man PH stars Glaiza De Castro, Kokoy De Santos, and Buboy Villar shared their experiences of visiting Korea during a lively talk show. Following that, the Korean musical “CHEF” entertained the audience with a unique blend of beatboxing and breakdancing, themed around Korea’s famous bibimbap dish.
Actress and comedian Melai Cantiveros-Francisco also took the stage to discuss family tourism, followed by performances from Korean artists. PUNCH, known for her work on K-drama soundtracks, captivated the audience with her sweet voice. Korean hip-hop dance group WOLF’LO wowed the crowd with their energetic performance, and EXO’s Xiumin thrilled fans with travel tips and a powerful performance of his songs.
The Korea Travel Fiesta 2024 also offered a variety of engaging activities. Attendees participated in beauty demos led by Korean experts, including personal color, makeup, and hair sessions. Challenges like the Spicy Ramen Challenge, Blindfold Makeup Challenge, and K-pop Random Play Dance encouraged audience participation, adding to the fun and excitement.
With the holiday season approaching, the Korea Travel Fiesta showcased the charm of Korea’s magical winter, offering Filipinos the chance to discover more about Korean culture and plan their next adventure.
“Filipinos have always had a deep appreciation for Korean culture, and the Korea Travel Fiesta is our way of expressing gratitude for their support over the years. As the holiday season approaches, we invite Filipino families and friends to visit Korea and experience its winter wonderland—from snow-covered landscapes to festive activities and events,” said Mr. Young Choong Seo, Acting President of the Korea Tourism Organization.
