Rico Blanco, the celebrated singer-songwriter and producer, has released the music video for his latest single “Palibot libot” under Sony Music Entertainment, which explores themes of science fiction.
Directed by Cris Escolano and Rico Blanco himself, the visuals tell a story of humanity in a world completely consumed by despair. The music video stars Rico Blanco, model Tuti Pon, and “The Entity,” a robotic figure created by Richard Somes.
Tuti Pon said that she enjoyed playing the female lead and immersing herself in the complexities needed to convincingly portray her character. “It was a new experience for me, and I’d do it again if given the opportunity,” she added.
Justine Arcega-Bumanlag, the production designer, expressed enthusiasm in working with the team and bringing the material’s fantastically imaginative vision to life. She said, “Rico Blanco wanted a classic-looking music video that stands the test of time. He wanted to avoid using CGI, so we started building a set that looks like a wreckage from an unknown planet and used it throughout the film.”
The song, which explores the uncertainty that often exists between friendship and relationships, was inspired by one of the characters in a series that Blanco filmed in La Union last year. Despite being anchored in someone’s steadfast devotion, the song reflects on the complexities of love: it’s not always synchronized and comes with complications, but that’s what makes it beautiful.
“Palibot libot” will be featured on Blanco’s fourth studio album, which will be released under Sony Music Entertainment.
