Epson is a global technology leader that’s focused on driving innovations and exceeding customer expectations. Its lineup ranges from inkjet printers and digital printing systems to 3LCD projectors, smart glasses, sensing systems, and industrial robots. Recent findings from the International Data Corporation (IDC) — the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology, telecommunications, and consumer technology markets — reveal that Epson has taken a 19.9% share in the market.
Epson has developed a strong presence in Southeast Asia since 1982. With its headquarters in Singapore, Epson’s regional business spans 11 countries with 7 manufacturing facilities, 7 Epson solution centers, and close to 500 service outlets.
From Q3 2016 to Q1 2017, Epson ranked #1 in the graphics market for large-format signage printers amongst the ASEAN countries. And in 2016, the SureColor SC-F9270, Epson’s flagship digital textile printer, emerged as the #1 large-format printer (LFP) for dye-sublimation inks in Vietnam.
Epson’s professional printers combine high-volume and high-speed production with quality print output and affordability. At the core of its printers is PrecisionCore printhead technology, which consists of the thin-film piezo print chip. These chips are built using precision micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) manufacturing technology. They use no heat, and they enable the development of superior ink formulations that can print on various media, ranging from posters and signage banners to other creative installations. In addition, multi-size dot control delivers precision printing.
Globally, the demand for large-format printing continues to grow. According to the IDC, LFP shipments and revenue in 2016 grew by more than 4% year-over-year. Smithers Pira, the worldwide authority on the packaging, paper, and print industry supply chains, forecasts 17.5% annual growth for digital textile printing, with revenue growth forecasted at an annual average of 12.3% from 2016 to 2021.
“The signage, textiles, and label industries are high-growth markets, and we aim to continue to drive growth in the region. Especially in the textiles industry, we aim to accelerate the industry shift to digital to support the demand for short-run print jobs. We will continue to leverage our strengths in our core technologies to introduce new innovations that will help our customers to strengthen their business and lower their overall total cost of production.” — Shuji Hamaguchi, Regional General Manager (Southeast Asia), Professional Printing Division, Epson Singapore.
