Epson Philippines, in partnership with the Haribon Foundation, recently spearheaded a coastal cleanup at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP), reinforcing its unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.

“At Epson, sustainability is more than just a corporate goal—it’s a responsibility we take seriously,” said Masako Kusama, President and Director of Epson Philippines. “This cleanup initiative reflects our dedication to protecting the environment and inspiring others to take action for a better future.”
Preserving a Critical Ecosystem
The cleanup targeted the preservation of Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park, a 175-hectare protected area that serves as one of the last remaining mangrove refuges in Manila Bay. Home to over 54 bird species, including both native and migratory birds, the park plays a vital role in maintaining biodiversity and ecological balance. Unfortunately, pollution and waste accumulation threaten this delicate habitat, making conservation efforts essential.
During the cleanup, volunteers from Epson and Haribon worked together to collect 133 sacks of waste, totaling 697 kilograms. The debris removed included:
42 sacks of Styrofoam (82 kg)
5 sacks of glass and metal (50 kg)
41 sacks of PET bottles (123 kg)
19 sacks of rubber materials (228 kg)
6 sacks of cloth waste (72 kg)
20 sacks of soft plastics (140 kg)
This collective effort not only reduced pollutants in the area but also highlighted the need for sustained action to protect and restore natural habitats.

Collaborating for Environmental Change
The Haribon Foundation, a leading environmental organization in the Philippines, has long been dedicated to conserving biodiversity and promoting sustainable practices. Renowned for its expertise in habitat restoration and community engagement, Haribon provided technical guidance, cleanup materials, and site management support to ensure the activity was impactful and safe for volunteers.
Epson’s collaboration with Haribon was a natural fit, aligning with the company’s Human Resources 2025 Plan to organize employee engagement activities centered around sustainability.
“We specifically wanted a coastal cleanup because it directly addresses one of the most visible and urgent environmental issues today,” Kusama explained. “Partnering with Haribon allowed us to make a meaningful impact—not only by preserving the wetland park but also by encouraging our employees to actively participate in sustainable practices.”
Sustainability at the Heart of Epson
The Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park holds immense ecological importance, serving as a sanctuary for migratory birds during winter months and providing essential ecosystem services such as flood mitigation and carbon sequestration. Epson’s involvement in this initiative underscores its commitment to safeguarding these critical functions while raising awareness about the importance of long-term conservation efforts.
This coastal cleanup is one of many initiatives that Epson Philippines has undertaken to promote sustainability and minimize its environmental footprint. By engaging employees in hands-on activities like this, the company reinforces its dedication to creating positive change and enriching local communities. Epson’s broader sustainability programs include:
Waste Reduction and Management
Energy Conservation Initiatives
Innovating Eco-Friendly Technologies
These ongoing efforts are all aimed at minimizing environmental impact and fostering a culture of responsibility among employees and stakeholders.
“This event is proof that small actions can lead to big results,” Kusama added. “We hope it inspires our employees and partners to take steps—big or small—in preserving our country’s natural resources and protecting our planet for generations to come. Sustainability is not just something we strive for as a company; it’s something we want to instill in every individual who shares our vision for a better world.”
