Enrique Gil delves into uncharted territories and discusses his comedy film “I Am Not Big Bird” as the ideal project for his acting comeback in the digital cover story of Metro Man.
Taking a break from the limelight, Enrique admitted to having concerns about his return but ultimately pushed himself to embrace risks and showcase his versatility as an actor.
“It’s okay to feel scared and take chances sometimes because, you know, playing it safe can get a little mundane. So I told myself, ‘How can you explore a different path?’ Hopefully, it will inspire other artists to venture into new realms,” he expressed in his exclusive feature with Metro Man.
An ardent fan of comedy, Enrique eagerly embraced the role of Luis Carpio in “I Am Not Big Bird,” a departure from his usual leading man personas.
“‘I Am Not Big Bird’ reminded me of films like Hangover, which I love watching because I’m a big fan of comedy. In my wildest dreams, I never imagined a film like this being released to viewers here, but we took a chance. I’m thrilled and proud that we did. I’m just ecstatic to have done a full-fledged comedy, something I’ve always wanted to do,” he shared.
The Kapamilya actor remains unfazed by the prospect of failure as he sets his sights on more ambitious and innovative projects.
“In the past, I was like, ‘No, I don’t think this will happen.’ It felt so unconventional, but then I realized, ‘No, that’s really who I am.’ So I’m just following my heart and doing what I love, hoping that people will enjoy and appreciate it,” he concluded.
