Khimo Gumatay has ignited the music scene with the release of his debut single’s music video, “Nasunog,” featuring popular Kapamilya actor Enchong Dee.
The music video, transformed into a captivating short film under the direction of Kashka Gaddi, unfurls a futuristic love story, as revealed by the grand winner of “Idol Philippines” season 2.
Khimo shared his insights, saying, “When we were conceptualizing the narrative for the short film, Director Kashka and the entire team decided to create a futuristic setting with a love story. This marks the first instance of Star Music incorporating computer-generated imagery in a music video, and I am genuinely grateful to have been a part of this project.”
Enchong takes on the role of Kim, a waiter who becomes entangled in the allure of a newly appointed robot bartender named Ava. The burgeoning relationship between Kim and Ava faces a series of trials, including a decree mandating the elimination of all robots due to purported inclinations towards malevolence.
Director Kashka commended Enchong’s performance for its pivotal role in conveying the video’s storyline. “Through his exceptional performance, the music video transcends its narrative,” she expressed.
The director also noted how Khimo emerged as a compelling storyteller during the video’s creation. “Meeting Khimo was a remarkable experience. Our conversations unveiled that he was not just a singer, but an artist endowed with a profound gift for storytelling,” she remarked.
“‘Nasunog’ has evolved into an anthem of heartbreak, a poignant reminder that within pain lies a profound beauty of vulnerability,” she added.
The music video was jointly produced by Star Music and Inside Job Studios.
