Empowering Youth Athletes: DITO Supports and Fuels Palarong Pambansa 2024

Dedicated to championing Filipino talents and empowering youth athletes, DITO Telecommunity proudly supported this year’s Palarong Pambansa as the main co-presenter in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd). By providing technological support and seamless, high-speed connectivity, DITO enhanced the experience for all athletes, delegates, and spectators at this highly anticipated sporting event in the country.

DITO’s next-generation technology played a crucial role in powering 20 billeting quarters, 34 sporting venues, and all command centers. This support benefited around 30,000 athletes and delegates, enabling them to access digital resources and stay connected with their families, fostering a sense of unity and support regardless of distance.

DITO deployed a cell site on wheels to boost network signal to ensure seamless experience for all athletes and delegates.

“To enhance the experience for our athletes this year, DITO equipped various headquarters and gaming venues with high-speed 5G connectivity. This upgrade provides greater capacity, wider coverage, and internet speeds up to 20 times faster than 4G. Participants were able to connect effortlessly to DITO’s WiFi hubs, showcasing the reliability of our technology,” said Ret. Maj. Gen. Rodolfo “Genboy” Santiago, DITO Chief Technology Officer.

During the opening ceremony on July 9, which featured a vibrant parade showcasing each region of the Philippines and highlighting the unique cultures and diverse talents of Filipinos, DITO ensured a seamless live stream on social media. This provided Filipinos and spectators nationwide with a high-definition streaming experience of the country’s largest sporting event.

The opening event was further enhanced by a spectacular performance from rising P-pop boy group and GalingDITO ambassadors, Alamat. Their rendition of the song “Ang Galing DITO” not only thrilled the audience but also inspired them with its powerful message of celebrating local talents and diversity.

Evelyn Jimenez, DITO Chief Revenue Officer for Consumer Business, emphasized, “Our GalingDITO campaign perfectly aligns with Palarong Pambansa by celebrating undiscovered talents, championing diversity, and empowering Filipinos to showcase their skills across various passions. It provides local artists with a powerful platform to display their talents.” She also added, “Palarong Pambansa 2024 is set to be a true celebration of the ‘galing ng Pilipino.’ This event transcends competition; it unites us as a nation to honor and elevate the collective achievements and diverse talents of the Filipino people.”

To make DITO’s products more accessible to Cebuanos and delegates, DITO set up activation booths at the Cebu City Sports Center, billeting quarters, and sporting venues. Visitors had the opportunity to explore and learn more about DITO’s value-for-money mobile and home products, including mobile prepaid options like Level-Up Socials, the affordable FLEXPlan 388 SIM-Only for mobile postpaid, and DITO Home’s Unli 5G and Prepaid Home WiFi. The booths also offered exciting freebies to new subscribers.

The Palarong Pambansa concluded with a closing ceremony on July 16, where winners in various sports were honored, and the participation and dedication of all young athletes were celebrated for showcasing their exceptional talents in their respective fields.

Through its innovative offerings and steadfast support of Palarong Pambansa, DITO has empowered young athletes to achieve new heights, demonstrating the company’s commitment to nurturing Filipino talent across the nation.
