The Ilocos region, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes, is set to take the spotlight as the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines, the marketing and promotions arm of the Department of Tourism (DOT), hosts the 12th Regional Travel Fair (RTF). This three-day event, taking place from October 13 to 15, 2023, offers businesses and consumers the opportunity to explore the best that this vibrant region has to offer.
Showcasing Ilocos Culture and Tourism
TPB organizes the RTF, a signature event held in various regions of the Philippines. It provides host regions with a platform to present their unique culture and tourism offerings to the public. This year’s event aims to shine a light on the cultural richness and diverse attractions of the Ilocos region, inviting both businesses and consumers to discover its treasures.
An Insightful Business-to-Business Session
The event kicks off with an onsite Business-to-Business (B2B) session, connecting at least 50 local buyers with 70 sellers and exhibitors. This session serves as a vital platform for buyers and sellers to forge partnerships, discuss travel-related business operations, and expand their networks within the region. The participating buyers and sellers will also embark on a post-event tour, acquainting themselves with the enticing attractions of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.
Business-to-Consumer Fair at Robinsons Laoag
Following the B2B session, a two-day Business-to-Consumer (B2C) fair will take place at Robinsons Laoag. This event is designed to provide local consumers with access to discounted domestic tour packages, airline tickets, accommodations, and other tourism-related products and services. It’s an excellent opportunity for travelers to plan their next adventure. The fair will not only feature travel deals but also ignite visitors’ interest in the Ilocos region through product demonstrations, local cuisine samplings, live product sales, and educational interviews.
Discovering the Charms of Ilocos
TPB Chief Operating Officer, Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles, emphasized the significance of this event, stating, “The Ilocos region deserves the spotlight for the 12th Regional Travel Fair because it is rich with well-preserved historical sites and pristine natural attractions.” The region’s offerings include the majestic sand dunes of Ilocos Norte, the surfer’s paradise of San Juan in La Union, the historical charm of Vigan City in Ilocos Sur with its Spanish colonial architecture, and the centuries-old churches and white-sand beaches of Pangasinan.
