EastWest Rural Bank Promotes Teacher Wellbeing through Nationwide Brigada Eskwela APE Initiative

EastWest Rural Bank (EWRB) has successfully conducted its 2024 Brigada Eskwela initiative, themed “Wellness for Teachers: Our Why is YOU,” from July 12 to 26, 2024. This initiative underscores EWRB’s commitment to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) programs, aiming to provide essential health services to educators across the Philippines, ensuring they are well-equipped to continue their invaluable work.

A Nationwide Commitment to Teacher Wellness

During the 2024 Brigada Eskwela initiative, EWRB sponsored mobile Annual Physical Examinations (APEs) for 2,352 DepEd teachers nationwide. This health-focused initiative builds on the bank’s successful pilot in the Langilan District of Kapalong, Davao del Norte, conducted in May 2024, and extends EWRB’s reach across various locations in the country.

“Our teachers are the backbone of our educational system, and their well-being directly impacts the quality of education our children receive,” stated Sheila Marasigan-Bajado, President of EastWest Rural Bank. “By supporting their health and wellness through this Brigada Eskwela initiative, we aim to empower them to continue their vital work with renewed energy and focus.”

Partnering with local and reputable diagnostic centers, EWRB ensured that participating teachers received comprehensive health check-ups, promoting their physical well-being and enhancing their ability to perform their duties effectively.

“Through this initiative, we want to express our gratitude to our educators for their unwavering dedication,” added Ms. Bajado. “Their well-being is our priority, and we are committed to supporting them in every possible way.”

Looking Ahead

As EastWest Rural Bank continues to advocate for the well-being of educators, it remains dedicated to enhancing community service and corporate social responsibility. The 2024 Brigada Eskwela initiative exemplifies EWRB’s mantra, “Our WHY is YOU,” aiming to positively impact the lives of Filipinos, particularly those who play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s future.
