Future-proofing the digital workforce will be a key focus when Steven Johnson, co-creator of NotebookLM and Editorial Director of Google Labs, delivers a keynote address at the ninth edition of the Digital Congress (DigiCon) on October 15-16, 2024, in Newport City, Metro Manila.
The Digital Marketing Association of the Philippines (DMAP), a leader in digital marketing innovation, has announced Johnson as the keynote speaker for the first day of this two-day conference. His insights are anticipated to provide valuable guidance to the 2,500 attendees from marketing, advertising, business, academia, media, and innovation sectors on navigating the challenges of digital transformation.
“The digital landscape is ever-changing, presenting both challenges and opportunities. This year’s DigiCon, themed “REVOLUTION,” will delve into groundbreaking trends and technologies reshaping the digital sphere in the Philippines and beyond. The major annual convention will feature global and local industry experts, thought leaders, and technology pioneers, covering five key tracks: ‘From Ecommerce to Digitally Enabled Commerce,’ ‘From IMC to Customer-Centric Campaigns,’ ‘From Digital Transformation to Business Evolution,’ ‘From Data Driven to Insight Driven,’ and ‘From I to AI.’
As Editorial Director at Google Labs, Johnson has played a pivotal role in developing NotebookLM, an AI-powered research tool designed to enhance note-taking and research efficiency. Although still in the experimental phase, NotebookLM is poised to revolutionize document management.
Previewing his keynote address, Johnson said, “My career has focused on understanding innovation through the lens of history—seeing developments in the context of past breakthroughs and their societal impacts. This perspective is crucial for predicting the future. At DigiCon REVOLUTION 2024, I’ll share key innovation patterns that emerge during transformative moments.”
In addition to his role at Google Labs, Johnson is a best-selling author known for works such as “Extra Life: A Short History of Living Longer,” which explores how humanity doubled life expectancy in a century, and his latest book, “The Infernal Machine,” which examines anarchism, the rise of the modern detective, and the birth of the surveillance state.
Johnson also hosts The TED Interview, where he explores the work and ideas of influential TED speakers.
This year’s DigiCon REVOLUTION will feature a multi-venue setup within Newport City, providing a comprehensive and immersive experience.
