This groundbreaking partnership sets a new benchmark for mobile connectivity and capacity across the nation.
As the third-largest telco in the Philippines, DITO has consistently reshaped the local telecommunications landscape since its 2019 launch. Boasting over 7,000 physical sites, an 86% network coverage rate, and more than 13 million active users, DITO leads the charge in 5G innovation, surpassing competitors in speed and user experience. To address surging 4G demand, DITO turned to advanced solutions to maximize spectrum resources and expand network capacity.
In 2024, DITO rigorously evaluated TDD Massive MIMO technologies, comparing configurations such as 8T8R, 64T64R, and 32T32R. The 32T32R solution stood out for its superior performance and cost efficiency.
Game-Changing Results from Pilot Deployment
Under the leadership of DITO’s Wireless and Network Planning Senior Advisor, Mr. Vincent Zhou, and with ZTE’s swift support, the pilot deployment of 32T32R technology was launched in high-demand areas. The results were remarkable:
- 99% improvement in spectrum efficiency
- 92% increase in average cell traffic volume
- 75% growth in average connected users
These results underscore the revolutionary impact of TDD Massive MIMO in enhancing 4G network capacity and optimizing operational costs.

Buoyed by the pilot’s success, DITO and ZTE are now preparing to scale up the commercial rollout of the 32T32R solution.
