Disney+ to Premiere Tengoku Daimakyo Anime Adaptation Based on Award-Winning Manga Series

On April 1, Disney+ will debut the highly anticipated anime adaptation of the award-winning manga series, Tengoku Daimakyo (“Heavenly Delusion”).

The series, based on the manga of the same name by Masakazu Ishiguro, is set 15 years after the world was devastated by a catastrophic disaster, leaving only small, isolated clusters of civilization behind. When Kiruko receives a mysterious request to take a child to “Heaven”, she and Maru embark on a dangerous journey while being hunted by Hiruko, a creature that preys on the remaining human race.

Produced by Production I.G. (known for Psycho-Pass and Ghost In The Shell), Tengoku Daimakyo stars Gen Sato as Maru, Sayaka Senbongi as Kiruko, and Hibiku Yamamura as Tokio. The anime series is directed by Hirotaka Mori and written by Makoto Fukami.

In addition to the announcement, two new pieces of artwork featuring Maru, Kiruko, and a group of children living in a walled world were also released.

Disney’s expanded strategic collaboration with Kodansha allows fans of Japanese anime to enjoy access to other titles, including Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown Arc, about a reformed bad boy who goes back in time to save his high school girlfriend from being murdered.

Subscribers can catch the debut of Tengoku Daimakyo on April 1, with new episodes being released every Saturday on Disney+.
