Asia’s Pop Heartthrob, Darren Espanto, discovers solace and liberation from negativity through his latest single, “Bibitaw Na.”
Describing the song, Darren explained, “This is an anthem for those who have healed from past relationships within a toxic environment. It’s about moving forward and experiencing the release from all the negativity they endured in the past.” He premiered the song live during the “ASAP Natin ‘To Milan” event on Sunday, September 10.
The upbeat track, both written and produced by Darren himself, in collaboration with ABS-CBN Music’s creative director Jonathan Manalo, marks his debut music release under Star Music. He also shared that his inspiration for the song came from the breakup stories of his close friends.
Darren candidly remarked, “I personally don’t relate to the song, but I wrote it for those who have found themselves in a similar situation. It began as a jest for my friends who had recently gone through breakups. I’m not sure what was going on in the world during that time because they all seemed to break up at once, but I continued writing it, and this is the result.”
The Filipino-Canadian singer first gained recognition when he participated in the inaugural season of “The Voice Kids Philippines,” finishing as a runner-up under Sarah Geronimo’s mentorship. Since then, he has become one of his generation’s most recognizable voices, with a string of hits to his name, including “In Love Ako Sayo,” “7 Minutes,” and “Dying Inside To Hold You.” He has also released two platinum-certified studio albums, “Darren” and “Be With Me.”
In addition to his musical accomplishments, Darren has showcased his acting talents with a leading role in the blockbuster film “The Hows of Us” and the iWantTFC series “Lyric and Beat.”
