“Idol Philippines” Season 2 alum Nico Crisostomo takes listeners on an emotional journey through heartbreak in his debut single “Dahan-Dahan,” released under ABS-CBN’s DNA Music.
The track captures the struggles of moving on after a breakup, a process that Nico describes as slow and painful.
“It’s about moving on. Ito ang pinakamahirap na stage sa isang relationship—when you’re breaking up. Gustuhin man natin makapag-move on nang biglaan, hindi ito possible, lalo na pag minahal mo nang buo yung isang tao,” he shared.
Co-written with Roly Halagao and produced by Dan Simon, the song also had ABS-CBN Music operations and creative head Jonathan Manalo as its executive producer.
A Dream Come True
For Nico, the release of “Dahan-Dahan” is both thrilling and surreal.
“Sobrang saya s’yempre and at the same time unreal. Feeling ko, slowly but surely, magbubunga din lahat ng pinaghirapan ko. Mas lalo akong na-motivate na mag-compose pa ng maraming songs,” he expressed.
From Passion to Pursuit
Growing up in Cavite, Nico was always drawn to music but didn’t actively pursue it until the pandemic, when he began doing livestream covers. In 2022, he auditioned for Idol Philippines Season 2, showcasing his talent on a national stage.
He cites Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, and Ed Sheeran as his musical influences and describes himself as a passionate dreamer willing to go the extra mile for his craft.
“Hardworking and driven ako para maabot ang mga pangarap. Even if I have to move a mountain just to reach that dream, gagawin ko—lalo na sa larangan ng pag-awit,” he said.
