In a stunning showcase of creativity and reverence for culture, the Hapag Movement by Globe and Lakbay Hibla united in a breathtaking fashion spectacle to honor Indigenous Peoples Month.
Named “The IP Fabrics in Travel,” the mesmerizing Lakbay Hibla Project illuminated the vibrant cultural tapestry of the Philippines. This extravaganza spotlighted the skilled artisans from Globe’s Hapag Movement, who not only crafted but also modeled their creations. This initiative, a part of Globe of Good, aims to combat hunger and create job opportunities for families in need.
Conducted at Hotel Lucky Chinatown and orchestrated by JCI QC Diamante alongside Marianas Momentous Events Management, the grand Lakbay Hibla event sought to champion, preserve, and safeguard Filipino indigenous fabrics and weaving customs.
Dani Vicente, President of JCI Quezon City Diamante, explained, “The Lakbay Hibla project showcases our indigenous fabrics in both traditional and contemporary fashion. Collaborating with ASEAN designers allows us to showcase these woven fabrics not just locally but globally, supporting sustainable initiatives that empower communities for the long term.”
Hayden Ng, Founder of ASEAN Fashion Designers Showcase (AFDS), echoed this sentiment, expressing, “Our aim is to elevate the talents and craftsmanship of the Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines onto the international stage. By partnering with ASEAN designers, we aim to create markets and sustainable livelihoods for these communities.”
Featuring 10 remarkable ASEAN Fashion Designers Showcase #fashionambassadors, the runway exhibit, in collaboration with JCI Quezon City Diamante, unveiled innovative designs. These stunning creations graced the stage with the support of 40 talented Filipino models, including ASEAN Fashion Designers Showcase #modelambassadors Dom Petch from Thailand and Jan Villanueva from the Philippines.
Beyond the glamour of the runway, the event served as a pivotal moment for the participants of the Hapag Movement’s sewing program. It offered them a platform to showcase their skills and potential in the dynamic world of fashion, paving the way for future opportunities.
Yoly Crisanto, Globe Group’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, expressed excitement about this collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with Lakbay Hibla not only showcased the remarkable talents of our sewing program graduates but also signifies the Hapag Movement’s commitment to catalyzing positive change in the fashion industry.”
The alliance between the Hapag Movement and Lakbay Hibla redefined fashion events, proving that the fusion of creativity and social responsibility knows no bounds.
