Anytime Fitness, the world’s leading health and fitness club franchise, has demonstrated strong indications of growth in Asia through strategic alliances, encouraging market recovery, and record-breaking pre-sales numbers. During a recent visit to Asia, Anytime Fitness Co-Founder and President Dave Mortensen expressed excitement over the strengthened partnership with Inspire Brands Asia, the Master Franchisee for Anytime Fitness in Asia, backed by lead investor Exacta Capital Partners and co-investor Aura Group.
Mortensen explained that the partnership with Inspire Brands Asia has solidified Anytime Fitness’s presence and relevance in the region, responsible for the rapid growth of the enterprise across nine Asian territories, including the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Vietnam. He expressed optimism about doubling the robust network of over 300 gyms in these countries in the next five years.
Several milestones in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia demonstrate this positive outlook. Recent gym openings in Manila exceeded pre-pandemic benchmarks with monumental 700+ membership sign-ups. Inspire Brands Asia Co-Founder Johannes Raadsma expressed gratitude to new and old fans who choose Anytime Fitness as their partner on their wellness journey.
In Indonesia, another all-time-high pre-opening result was recorded, proving Jakarta as an emerging market with strong demand for the Anytime Fitness brand’s 24/7 service platform. In Malaysia, the brand signed a Regional Agent agreement with a multi-unit franchisee group led by Paul Miles and Simon Raadsma, committing to double the current network of 30+ clubs nationwide.
Mortensen affirmed that the next three to five years look promising, with continuous collaboration with franchise partners and their members in markets such as Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam giving further white space for rapid growth. He praised franchisees and staff, who have been the backbone of operations, especially through the toughest of times, as the real rockstars of the business.
