In a significant development, the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines have solidified their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the upcoming MICECON 2024. Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga emerged as the winning bidder to host the largest gathering of Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) professionals in the country.
The signing ceremony, led by TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles and CDC President & CEO Agnes VST Devanadera, marked the official commitment between the two entities. Joining them were key officials, including TPB Deputy COO for Corporate Affairs Atty. Vince Manuel, CDC VP for Business Development and Business Enhancement Group Atty. Noelle Mina Meneses, CDC Tourism & Promotions Division Officer-in-Charge Elenita S. Lorenzo, and CDC Legal Affairs Group Officer-in-Charge Atty. Anna Gayle T. Barin.
Having previously hosted the conference in 2014, the Metro Clark area is gearing up to showcase its rich history, culture, and heritage to both local and international MICE delegates once again. MICECON 2024 is expected to not only promote tourism but also attract new investments and business opportunities that will contribute significantly to the city’s economic growth.
With its exceptional infrastructure facilities, captivating attractions, and strategic location at the heart of the growing Asia Pacific markets, Clark is well-positioned to be a premier destination for hosting world-class conferences. The area boasts popular international hotel chains with spacious and modern rooms, access to various Industrial and Technology Parks within the zone, and Clark International Airport (CIA), which offers a seamless travel experience for visitors.
As Clark strives to become the country’s first smart, resilient, and sustainable city, it is scheduled to launch the Malolos-Clark Railway in 2025. This high-speed train project aims to enhance connectivity between Clark and Manila, significantly reducing commuting time and contributing to a reduction of over 60,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.
Expressing gratitude to TPB for selecting Clark as the official host of MICECON 2024, Devanadera expressed confidence in the city’s ability to successfully host the event. She emphasized Clark’s unique features, rich culture, and state-of-the-art facilities, which will undoubtedly reinforce its position as a premier investment and tourism destination in the Asia Pacific Region. Devanadera also expressed eagerness to showcase the warmth and hospitality of the Metro Clark area, providing attendees with an unforgettable experience.
TPB COO Nograles highlighted the significance of holding MICECON in Clark, further solidifying the Philippines’ status as a top MICE destination in Asia. She emphasized the city’s stunning natural landscapes, iconic historical sites, and innovative infrastructure projects, which will attract more tourists and investments while revitalizing the tourism industry.
Scheduled for July 10 to 12, 2024, MICECON 2024 promises to be an exceptional event, offering participants an opportunity to explore the wonders of Clark, network with industry peers, and forge connections with local and international stakeholders.
