Valentine’s Day can be a complicated time for Filipinos, with some experiencing happy emotions while others feel lonely and frustrated. To provide a safe space for people to vent their feelings, the Venting Machine was created by Universal Robina Corporation (URC) in partnership with BBDO Guerrero.
Chill, an alcoholic beverage produced by URC, is a refreshing drink with a 5% alcohol content. The Venting Machine, shaped like a Chill can and standing 16 feet tall, was set up on a prime shopping street in Manila on February 11 and 12. The machine contained three activities – screaming, punching, and a slicing game – and participants received a Chill can after completing their chosen activity.
Hundreds of people took part in the event over the two-day weekend, and were able to share their experience on social media. Mian David, URC’s Chief Marketing Officer, said that the Venting Machine was created to offer young Filipinos a “drama-free moment” during the Love month. Chill, she added, provides a laid-back drinking experience for people who want to relax and unwind.
Karen Go, General Manager at BBDO Guerrero, praised the successful event and expressed excitement about the possibility of further elevating the Chill brand. Chill is a hard seltzer drink that contains real fruit extract, no added sugar, and comes in three different flavors – Lychee, Red Apple, and Lemon Lime – with a more refreshing, fruity taste than beer.
