Chevron, a longstanding and prominent investor in the country, joined forces with the American Chambers Foundation Philippines, Inc. (ACFPI or AmCham) to co-present the annual AmCham Foundation ScholaCOLORun at Liwasang Ulalim, CCP Complex, Pasay City.
Now in its tenth year, this charity run is organized by ACFPI to raise funds for the formal education of underprivileged yet deserving youths. ACFPI, a private non-profit association, aims to assist Philippine and American businesses in contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines.
This year, the colorful event attracted a total of 3,247 runners, including 190 employees from Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI) and Chevron Holdings Inc. (CHI). Participants could choose from various race distances, including 3-km, 5-km, 10-km, and 15-km runs, as well as a 200-meter dash for children aged 7 and below.
The proceeds from the run will support the education of 10 scholars in colleges and universities across the country. Over its 38-year history, the foundation has assisted more than 2,800 beneficiaries.
Each participant received a race kit comprising a race shirt, sunglasses, and a complimentary loot bag, with finishers awarded medals. At the awards ceremony, CPI HR Manager Marife Jose was honored with a plaque of appreciation as AmCham’s co-presenter of the 10th ScholaRUN.
“Chevron has long been a staunch supporter of AmCham Foundation’s educational programs. The success of the ScholaCOLORun demonstrates that people will come together for a fun and healthy activity while serving a greater social purpose,” stated CHI Corporate Affairs Manager Arlita Narag.
“Beyond financial support, our aim is to create an environment where every young mind can thrive, regardless of their background. We express our sincere gratitude to Chevron for generously sponsoring the event and for its continued support of our educational initiatives,” said ACFPI President Edwin Feist.
“Chevron has a longstanding and fruitful partnership with the AmCham Foundation. AmCham advocates for youth education, and our collaboration for this event aligns with our company’s commitment to unlocking the full potential of individuals. In addition to supporting scholars through the ScholaRUN, we also promote employee wellness by encouraging their participation in this annual run,” added CPI HR Manager Marife Jose.
Chevron and AmCham have also worked together to help communities in Batangas acquire skills for employment, both locally and abroad. The two organizations have partnered on various initiatives, including Chevron’s institutional Fuel Your School program nationwide, vocational-technical training for scholars at Don Bosco Pugad, and co-presenting the ScholaRUN since its inception 10 years ago.
