Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), the marketer of Caltex fuels and lubricants, has donated solar-powered streetlights to Barangay Palilan and Barangay Tabo-o in Misamis Occidental. This initiative underscores Chevron’s dedication to enhancing safety and fostering community development in the areas where it operates. Both barangays host Chevron terminals, which supply several Caltex stations across Misamis Oriental, including those in Cagayan de Oro, the province’s largest city.
The solar streetlights now illuminate key pathways and roads within the barangays, reducing risks associated with poorly lit areas and ensuring a safer environment for residents and travelers. This contribution is particularly critical during emergencies such as power outages or natural disasters, where proper lighting plays a vital role in safe navigation and evacuation.
Residents of Barangay Palilan and Barangay Tabo-o have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Chevron for its thoughtful donation. The installation of solar streetlights has significantly improved safety, providing better visibility and reducing concerns over dimly lit streets, especially at night. The enhanced lighting also benefits tourists visiting the area, contributing to a more secure and welcoming atmosphere.
“At Chevron, we are proud to support communities through initiatives like this. We remain committed to promoting safety and enhancing the well-being of our host communities,” said Irven Walter Abenojar, Terminal Operator Associate at CPI.
This project reflects Chevron’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and community welfare. By investing in renewable energy solutions like solar lighting, Chevron is not only addressing immediate safety concerns but also contributing to long-term improvements in the quality of life for local residents. The company is eager to expand on this effort with future projects that further promote safety, sustainability, and community resilience.
