Chelsea Dawn's Triumphant Return: 'Another Story'

Chelsea Dawn has made an electrifying return to the music scene with her latest single, “Another Story,” released on New Year’s Day 2025. The song, a heartfelt collaboration with Redd Layne Odilao of indie rock band The Midnight Greetings, signals a fresh chapter for the singer-songwriter.

After experimenting with a full band in 2023 and dropping the well-received single “Butterfly” as well as a collaboration with Indonesian pop rock band lightcraft titled “Coming Home,” Chelsea took a step back from the spotlight. Her unofficial hiatus was prompted by personal challenges, but during that time, the seeds for “Another Story” began to take root.

The song’s journey started serendipitously through Odilao. “It began with a random conversation,” Chelsea recalls. “Redd shared a Paper Kites-inspired demo, and it instantly resonated with me.” Inspired by the demo, Chelsea dove into writing and recording the vocals, while Odilao reworked the instrumentals. The final touches were provided by Migs Lim, who handled the mixing and mastering.

Describing the single, Chelsea shares, “Another Story is about forgiving yourself, letting go of the past, and embracing a new chapter in life.” The track draws heavily from her personal experiences, making it both deeply introspective and universally relatable.

The music video for “Another Story,” produced by Dumaguete’s 29-Step Productions and Catalyst Media—the same team behind her previous videos “Bundak” and “Butterfly”—premiered on January 3 on YouTube.

Although now based in the Maldives, Chelsea maintains strong ties to her hometown. To celebrate the release, she hosted an intimate listening party in Dumaguete with close friends and longtime supporters just days before the song went live.

In its debut week, “Another Story” has already amassed over 1,000 streams and earned a spot on Spotify’s New Music Friday Philippines playlist. The single marks the beginning of an exciting new phase for Chelsea, with more collaborations with Odilao in the works.

“We’re planning to release a batch of three songs next and, ideally, work toward an EP or an album,” Chelsea reveals.

With “Another Story,” Chelsea Dawn reaffirms her place in the music world, inviting listeners to join her on this inspiring new journey.
