Go Pro has released a new affordable version: The Go Pro Hero. Priced in the US at US$ 129.99 which might be around Php 6,000 to 7,500 when sold in the Philippines (based on exchange rate). That’s way cheaper than the Php 15K to Php 20K Hero 3.
The new Hero is designed to be a entry-level Go Pro that is compatible with the Go Pro accessories as well.
It features high-quality 1080p 30 fps and 720p 60 fps video. It shoots 5MP photos up to 5 frames per second and is equipped also with QuikCapture, SuperView™ and Auto Low Light like its more expensive siblings. Case is waterproof to 131’ (40m). –
It is small and lightweight weighing just 3.9 ounces.
The major disadvantage is that the Wifi connectivity has been removed so you can only operate it manual controls. For most of the applications, this is actually not an issue. Another disadvantage is the short battery life of 2.5 hours. The battery is replaceable like the other models so you have to charge the built-in battery in the camera itself.
The big price difference will make it an ideal entry level Go Pro. Now cheaper, it’s definitely affordable to be a hero!
US launch is in October, hopefully it comes soon also here in the Philippines.
Let’s Go Pro!
