In honor of National Breastfeeding Month this August, SM Cares continues its mission to raise awareness about breastfeeding by presenting the “Free to Feed: Advocating Safe Spaces for Breastfeeding at SM” photo contest and exhibition.
The Free to Feed photo contest warmly welcomes all photography enthusiasts to participate. Aspiring entrants are encouraged to share their original captures, showcasing breastfeeding mothers in various locations within any SM mall. Whether it’s at the food court, parking area, tenant spaces, or notably the dedicated breastfeeding station, submissions are accepted until August 21, 2023. The unveiling of the victorious entries is set for August 28 at SM City North EDSA, where prizes amounting to Php 30,000 await the winners. Entrants are invited to submit their works through this portal: www.bit.ly/FreeToFeedAtSM.
Throughout the month of August, a compelling photo exhibit roadshow and informative forum will be hosted, serving as a poignant reminder of the significance of standing by mothers on their breastfeeding journey. Attendees are invited to experience the impactful Free to Feed exhibit during specific dates at the following participating SM malls: from August 10 to 20 at SM City Davao, August 15 to 21 at SM City Pampanga, August 16 to 20 at SM City Dasmariñas, August 19 to 24 at SM City Iloilo, and finally, from August 28 to September 2 at SM City North EDSA.
In alignment with the World Health Organization’s advocacy of promoting breastfeeding within work environments, SM Supermalls is dedicated to providing accessible and secure spaces for nursing mothers. With a network of 80 breastfeeding stations strategically placed across SM malls nationwide, these facilities cater to both valued customers and dedicated employees.
“At the heart of our initiative lies the photo competition and exhibit, reflecting our steadfast belief in the significance of championing breastfeeding awareness amongst Filipinos and fostering secure and inclusive havens for mothers,” emphasized Atty. Pearl Jayagan Turley, Program Director of SM Cares Committee on Women and Breastfeeding Mothers. “Our SM malls exemplify these ideals, as they stand as welcoming spaces where mothers have the liberty to breastfeed anywhere. Moreover, we’ve established fully-equipped breastfeeding stations that cater to every need, ensuring a nourishing experience for both mother and child.”
