HONOR, a leading provider of smart devices, made a significant debut at VivaTech, one of Europe’s largest tech and innovation showcases. At the event, HONOR introduced its innovative Four-Layered AI Strategy, highlighting its dedication to on-device AI. During the presentation, George Zhao, CEO of HONOR Device Co., Ltd., also unveiled upcoming Gen-AI experiences in collaboration with Google Cloud that will be integrated into their highly anticipated smartphones.

HONOR’s Four-Layer AI Architecture comprises Cross-device and Cross-OS AI, Platform-level AI, App-level AI, and Interface to Cloud-AI services. The foundational layer, Cross-device and Cross-OS AI, enables an open ecosystem that facilitates sharing of computing power and services among HONOR devices and operating systems. Platform-level AI personalizes the operating system for intent-based human-computer interaction and efficient resource allocation. App-level AI pioneers generative AI applications to innovate user experiences. Lastly, the Interface to Cloud-AI services ensures user access to extensive cloud services while prioritizing privacy protection.
Bringing Magic to User Experience with MagicOS 8.0 and Magic Portal
Introducing MagicOS 8.0 featuring Magic Portal, the industry’s first intent-based UI that understands user behavior and simplifies complex tasks into single-step processes. Magic Portal currently supports 100 top applications across travel, productivity, messaging, search, entertainment, shopping, and social media, with plans for expansion to deliver even more seamless and intelligent AI experiences. HONOR will soon roll out MagicOS 8.0 to HONOR Magic V2 and HONOR 90 devices.
In another breakthrough, the HONOR 200 Series has revolutionized portrait photography by leveraging AI to replicate Studio Harcourt’s iconic lighting and shadow effects. This innovation ensures studio-quality portraits with every shot, reflecting the legendary techniques of Studio Harcourt. The HONOR 200 Series was launched in Paris on June 12.
Furthermore, the insightful panel discussion at VivaTech 2024 featured industry expert Dr. Justine Cassell, exploring the future of multimodal interaction. Dr. Cassell highlighted that “humans live multimodally, and the integration of verbal and nonverbal cues in AI systems foresees a future where multimodally-sensitive AI on phones assists a diverse range of users.”
