Use loyalty points to offset a portion of certain carbon dioxide equivalent emissions from your fuel
Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), the company behind the Caltex brand of fuels and lubricants, has introduced the Caltex Carbon Offset Program for Caltex service stations in the Philippines. This voluntary initiative, previously launched in Malaysia and Singapore in 2023 and 2022 respectively, allows customers to participate in offsetting a portion of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by contributing their Caltex Rewards points.
Through the CaltexGO app, Caltex Rewards members can redeem loyalty points for Carbon Offset vouchers. These vouchers convert points into cash value, which Chevron and its affiliates invest in verified sustainability projects. Customers refueling vehicles at Caltex stations, including cars, trucks, or motorcycles, can use their loyalty points to offset a portion of their carbon emissions from fuel combustion.
Carbon offsetting involves reducing greenhouse gas emissions by supporting land conservation or restoration, sustainable energy investments, and tree planting. Chevron will invest the equivalent value of redeemed loyalty points into two chosen carbon offset projects in Indonesia and Cambodia.
One of these projects is the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, aimed at preserving 64,000 hectares of tropical peat swamp forest, home to endangered species like the Bornean orangutan. The other project, Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation in Seima Protection Forest, Cambodia, spans over 290,000 hectares, protecting diverse wildlife and preventing the release of millions of tons of CO2 emissions.
Both projects are registered, validated, and verified by the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) program, a widely recognized greenhouse gas crediting program.
Billy Liu, CPI Country Chairman, emphasized Chevron’s commitment to driving energy progress while addressing customer feedback. The Caltex Carbon Offset Program aligns with Chevron’s aspiration to achieve net zero equity upstream Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2050, alongside other carbon reduction initiatives.
