BRILLANTE MENDOZA PRESENTS PANATA AT TV5
Panata is a new episode from Brillante Mendoza Presents series presented by TV5 and Director Brillante Mendoza. It is his newest masterpiece and was presented during the Press conference at Director’s Club in Mega Fashion Hall at SM Megamall. The airing of the episode will be at TV5 on the 27th of May at 9pm.
The stars of the show are Kristofer King, Felix Roco, Arnold Reyes, Sue Prado, Lou Veloso and Edwin Nombre. Mario (Kristofer King) was once a Marinduque mask maker and became a student activist. He also questioned his faith in God and joins the rebel’s secret gathering held in the mountains.
Viewers will be captivated by the beauty of Marinduque and the annual festivity called Moriones. The said festival is held on Holy week from Holy Monday ending on Easter Sunday. Moriones is one of the most colorful events held in the island. It is based from the story of a Roman centurion who was blind in one eye.
Every episode from Brillante Mendoza Presents is presented in a trademark cinematic storytelling style which is recognized by prestigious international award giving bodies. The show is about human relationships, its complexities and having Filipino traditions set as the backdrop.

Director Brillante Mendoza and TV5 shares the same advocacy for indie films. TV5 believes in his creative inputs and brand of storytelling and considers him as their content partner.

BRILLANTE MENDOZA AS MENTOR IN THE CANNES INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Brillante Mendoza is returning to Cannes Film Festival as a “Parrain” or Godfather of the upcoming La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde. The announcement for his invitation to be a Parrain was announced during the press conference held at SM Megamall Director’s Club. Director Brillante Mendoza will be mentoring 10 new-coming directors coming from South Africa, Brazil, Egypt, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mali, Myanmar, and Peru.
Mentors are selected every year from Festival de Cannes awarded directors and also for south-north relation and concern. Previous mentors were: Jia Zhan-Ke, French film director and writer Claire Denis, Brazilian filmmaker and film producer Walter Salles, Haitian filmmaker of both documentary and feature films Raoul Peck, Palestinian film director Elia Suleiman, Portuguese director Maria de Medeiros, French film, TV, and stage actress Elsa Zylberstein, Argentine film producer, editor and director Pablo Trapero, French film director and screenwriter Sandrine Bonnaire, Cambodian documentary film director and screenwriter Rithy Panh, French actress, artist and dancer Juliette Binoche and film director and producer Abderrahmane Sissako.
La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde is a professional, full-working program that encourages the emergence of rising talents. It is a program conceived with the idea of helping the achievement of the projects through a privileged access to international film industry networks. It is setup by Institut Français’s Cinema’s Department.
Back in 2009, Director Brillante Mendoza won the award for Best Director at the famed Cannes Film Festival making him the first Asian to do so. Also last year, Jaclyn Jose won the Best Actress award for his film “Ma’Rosa.
