[Manila, Philippines] – The Philippine Financial Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP) hosted a landmark event with the 2024 PFIP Pride Summit, themed “Limitless: Inclusion Beyond Horizons.” Held on July 30-31 at Shangri-La at The Fort, the summit was a celebration of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and served as a dynamic platform for leaders, innovators, and advocates committed to fostering inclusive workplaces and celebrating LGBTQIA+ excellence.
The summit brought together a vibrant mix of industry leaders, LGBTQIA+ community members, and allies, generating valuable insights and actionable strategies for creating safe and productive environments for LGBTQIA+ employees. Beyond the business focus, the event also showcased queer creativity across various industries, highlighting the diverse talents and achievements within the LGBTQIA+ community.
Pride Summit Key Highlights
The 2024 PFIP Pride Summit featured an array of engaging keynotes, informative presentations, and interactive breakout sessions. A standout moment was the keynote speech by Eva Le Queen, titled “The Limitless LGBTQ+ Filipino,” which offered inspiring stories of resilience and success. The summit also included the PFIP Film Festival, presenting short films that explored the lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals throughout Asia.
Attendees were treated to a range of empowering sessions, including “Raising Unicorns: A Guide for Parents and Guardians of Queer Children,” which provided insights into supporting queer children and emphasized the importance of acceptance starting at home. Another notable discussion, “What Makes a Woman? Focus on Intersectional Feminism,” examined the intersection of women’s empowerment and trans inclusion.
The summit spotlighted young queer professionals achieving success in their careers through sessions like “Defining LGBTQ+ Excellence: Out Loud and Up The Corporate Ladder.” Presentations such as “Becoming #Limitless: Be Real and Be Regal” by Regal Oliva and “Going Above and Beyond (Horizons): Spotlight on Iloilo City” by Gab Umabhay highlighted community-driven initiatives, especially in areas outside of Metro Manila.
In addition, discussions on workplace inclusivity and representation were led by experts like Sky Teotico, who spoke on “Reaching for the Sky: Advocating for Trans Equality,” and Rodina Singh, who presented “Reclaiming LGBTQ+ Narratives: From Kanal to the Main Stage.” These sessions underscored the power of visibility and representation across all spaces and platforms.
The summit concluded with the highly anticipated Lip-Sync Lalaparuzza, a lively and entertaining showcase reinforcing the event’s message of inclusivity and acceptance.
