September 1, start of the BER months signalling the proximity of the Holiday Season. I just remembered my mom and decided to take her with me to SM City Manila where they were having a 3 Day Sale from August 31, September 1 and 2.
Picked her up from our former residence in Kaloocan City where I grew up. Together with my newphew who wanted to tag along, we took a jeepney ride to Manila City Hall and alighted there.
We walked a block to the mall. It was bit drizzling but very light though that we did not even bother opening the umbrella.
When we entered the mall, it was quite busy. Being a week-end and start of the month with people having got their salaries already, it was a good time to shop for a sale.
The mall had a busy but festive atmosphere. There was even a DJ spinning some upbeat numbers for the shoppers’ pleasure.
I asked mom if she want something from the department stores. She said that we got so many clothes that were pasalubong to her from my aunt when aunt came to the Philippines from the USA for a holiday. Mom just wants buy a few supplies from the supermarket and some of here favorite treats like chinese champoys.
Browsing around the Men’s Wear section, I saw this 50% off in the Arrow brand display. The Arrow brand shirts have good quality cloth materials. It’s a bit expensive but with the mark down, its more affordable.
Enticed, I tried two of the shirts.
Afterwards, I saw the Jockey underwear display and noticed that they are having 20% off on all items.
I heard that Jockey products quality are very good. Since, it was 20% off it’s a good time to try out this brand. I bought one of the cheaper models.
While browsing in the other sections, I saw this nice red Ultimo shirt that was also on 50% off. Ultimo, according to the sales lady, is a sister company of Arrow brand as well.
We finished at the department store and went around to see the other shops in the mall. The mall has 6 levels.
We went to the supermarket to buy moms chinese delis and some groceries for her. Afterward, we were hungry already with all the shopping and walking around. We decided to have dinner.
We wanted to try something new, but I know that moms not too experimental about her food. I know she likes chinese food so that’s the safest bet. I heard that here was a new chinese restaurant called Kung Fu Kitchen so we went to the 4th floor where it was located.
The place decor was quite inviting. I like the way it’s decorated.
We order a couple of dishes. Here are the two of the dishes that we ordered.
The bento box contained (from top right, clock wise)
- Sweet & Sour Fish
- Lemon Chicken
- Yang Chow
- Beijing Beef
+ the tasty Efu Seafood Noodles on a separate small plate
The quality of the food was very good and reasonably priced. I highly recommend that you try out this new resto. It’s from the same chain of resto that brought you Sumosam.
It was a big meal and we are full. My mom enjoyed the food. My nephew surprisingly finished his bowl of rice and loved the sweet and sour fish.
Well, it was a good day of shopping and bounding with mom!
