Get ready to unravel a deadly web of deception with ‘Without Sin’, the gripping psychological thriller streams exclusively on Lionsgate Play this month
What if everything you believed about the greatest tragedy of your life was suddenly brought into question? This is the chilling premise of Without Sin, a four-part psychological thriller that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Starring Vicky McClure (BAFTA Award winner), the series follows Stella Tomlinson, a mother devastated by the murder of her daughter. Stella’s life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters Charles Stone, portrayed by Johnny Harris (BAFTA nominee), the man convicted of her daughter’s death. As another teenager’s life hangs in the balance, the two are reluctantly forced to team up to uncover the truth behind that fateful night. What begins as a search for closure quickly spirals into a tangled web of lies and hidden truths, prompting Stella to question everything she once believed about the crime that shattered her world.
As the investigation intensifies, Stella’s journey forces her to confront not only Charles’s potential innocence but also her own long-held beliefs about the murder. Without Sin delves into the fragile boundary between villain and victim, offering a suspenseful ride filled with raw emotion and suspense. Viewers will be left questioning how far one is willing to go in search of redemption and justice.
The series was born from a compelling idea that Without Sin creator and writer Frances Poletti shared in an interview with LeftLion. “Vicky [McClure] had watched a Channel 4 documentary about restorative justice and found it fascinating,” she explained. “She wondered what would happen if a mother met the man she thought killed her child, hoping for an apology, only for the meeting to take an unexpected turn.” Inspired by this concept, Frances worked closely with Vicky McClure and Johnny Harris to develop a story that dives deep into the complexities of grief, guilt, and forgiveness.
In a recent interview with Big Issue, Vicky McClure discussed the emotional weight of her character. “The show was originally titled Redemption, which is central to the series. Stella has nothing left to lose. She’s already lost her daughter, and nothing can bring her back. But when the possibility of new answers arises, no matter how painful, she’s determined to find out the truth.”
Prepare for a gripping and emotional journey as Without Sin premieres exclusively on Lionsgate Play starting November 15.
