I attended the Philippine premiere of the movie Begin Again last July 8 at SM Cinemas at SM MOA.
Begin Again stars Mark Ruffalo, Keira Knightley, Adam Levine. Directed by John Carney of Once.
It’s a feel good romantic comedy with great music played by the actors and actresses and on the background.

Review
Dan, a struggling record producer played by Mark Ruffalo, laid of by his partner from the company he started. He was in lowest being canned, divorced and not appreciated by his daughter.
Dan discovered Greta, played by Keira Knigthly, in a bar where she sang hesitantly. Dan imagined how she would sound like with a full production behind her and saw the potential. That started the friendship (or whatever you want to call it), between the two producing a unique album shot on low budget outside the studio.
Greta, struggling from her love relationship with her rockstar boyfriend Dave, played by Adam Levine, pursued her songwriting singing “inspired” by her situation.
It’s the struggle of both Dan and Greta which drives the interest of the movie backed by a great soundtrack and great songs played by the artists. It’s funny, romantic, light, and uplifting.
One of the best parts for me was earphone splitter scene by Dan and Greta. It made me really feel that music uplifts us however trivial.
Great performances by Keira and Adam in the movie. I did not know that Keira can sing that well.
Overall, I highly recommend the movie for the music, uplifting mood and the “romance” part of it.
“Begin Again” is showing from July 9 in Philippine cinemas nationwide by Solar Entertainment Company.
I just love the song “Lost Stars”. I like both versions of Keira and Adam.
